The Telangana unit of the BJP is behind the Enforcement Department (ED) and Income-Tax Department (IT) raids on prominent TRS leaders and Ministers.Sources said the state BJP unit is providing inputs to the Centre about TRS leaders and as per the direction of the Central Government headed by Prime Minister Modi the ED and I-T officials are going into action.
A BJP leader said that the ED raided Minister Gangula Kamalakar’s residence based on his complaint. This strengthens the impression that the state BJP is providing info to the Centre.
The BJP leadership wants to cut the funding sources of the TRS to weaken it financially by the time of the next Assembly elections. During the Munugode Assembly by-election, both the BJP and the TRS competed with each other in spending money. In this, the TRS secured the upper hand by spending more money than the BJP and got the result accordingly.
The BJP leadership thinks that if the same thing repeats during Assembly elections the TRs may win. Keeping this in mind the BJP leadership has decided to cut the funding sources of the TRS. In this the BJP leadership is getting inputs from the state BJP and they are directing ED and IT officials to conduct raids.
During the Munugode Assembly election, IT officials raided the residence of Power Minister G. Jagadish Reddy’s PA. After the Munugode election, ED officials raided TRS minister Gangula Kamakar and companies owned by TRS MP Voddiraju Ravichandra.
Now IT officials are conducting raids on institutions and companies belonging to TRS Minister Ch. Mallareddy. In the casino case, the ED officials have questioned TRS Minister Talasani Srinivasa Yadav’s brothers.
Sources said the BJP leadership has prepared a list of TRS leaders who are strong financially. In this list, there are some more ministers and public representatives who are close to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. After the attempted poaching of TRS MLAs, the Centre is concentrating on Telangana, particularly TRS leaders.
After the ED and IT raids TRS leaders are now frightened that the ED or IT department will raid their residences. Sources said that in coming days ED and IT officials are likely to raid some prominent TRS leaders including Ministers.
TRS leaders who are engaged in business are taking precautions to escape ED and IT raids. In fact, the raids have not surprised TRS leaders as KCR had warned them at a recent party meeting that Central agencies might raid them.
