BJP thinks KCR may go for early Assembly elections

The BJP thinks Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao may go for early Assembly elections in the state as he did in 2018. The BJP suspects that KCR may dissolve the Assembly in February or March 2023 so that elections can be held in the State along with the Karnataka Assembly polls.

It may be recalled that Karnataka Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in May 2023 or before that.BJP leaders think that KCR has concluded that the BJP is his main rival in Telangana and that it is better to go for elections along with Karnataka to ensure that the BJP leadership is unable to concentrate fully on Telangana. The BJP leaders reason that the BJP is planning to retain power in Karnataka and hence may concentrate on the Karnataka elections. KCR may think that the time of the Karnataka elections would be perfect for him to confuse the BJP in Telangana and therefore may dissolve the Assembly in February or March.

BJP leaders were busy discussing KCR’s proposed TRS Assembly, Parliamentary parties and State Executive joint meeting at the Pragathi Bhavan on Tuesday and said that there is a possibility of early elections in the state due to the sudden announcement of the Tuesday joint meeting by KCR.

The BJP leaders think that KCR would complete all pending projects like the construction of the Secretariat and the Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial before March 2023. KCR may dissolve the Assembly at any time after the inauguration of the new Secretariat building, the BJP leaders said. Some BJP leaders were also seen enquiring about the agenda of KCR’s Tuesday meeting with reporters. One BJP leader said that KCR may focus on Gujarat elections and he may say something about that at the Tuesday meeting The same leader predicted that KCR may send a team to Gujarat pockets where Telugus are available to study the conditions there. He said that KCR may send leaders like former MP Rapolu Ananda Bhasker to Gujarat as a large number of Telugu weavers live there.
