Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has given good news to contractual employees in Andhra Pradesh by hiking the salaries of outsourced employees in the Electricity Department by 37 per cent and further offering insurance cover. AP Transco Chairman and Managing Director K Vijayanand has issued an order enhancing wages of the outsourced workers working in AP Transco through third party manpower supply agencies and contractors.
This decision was formally announced through an order issued by the Special Chief Secretary of the Electricity Department Vijayanand on Wednesday. The move is set to positively impact approximately 27,000 outsourced employees working within the electricity sector. This notable salary rise has propelled the income of these employees to exceed Rs 21,000. Moreover, in a bid to further safeguard the interests of these employees, the government has also mandated contract agencies to extend group insurance facilities to them.
Minister for Energy Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy has said that the government’s proactive stance in this matter was expected to bring about a series of positive outcomes for outsourced employees within the Power Department. He further said that this included not only improved financial compensation, but also enhanced insurance coverage, thereby ensuring a more secure and stable professional environment for these dedicated workers. The minister added that the Andhra Pradesh government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of its workforce, as demonstrated by this latest decision, served as a testament to its dedication to fostering growth, equity, and prosperity within the region.
