Bridge linking AP, TS collapses; traffic hit

An important R&B bridge linking Andhra Pradesh and Telangana along the Mettgutta road at Penugolanu in Gampalagudem mandal, NTR district, collapsed on Monday, disrupting vehicular movement between the two states. The incident has left pedestrians without an alternative route, leading to considerable inconvenience for the public.
According to local reports, the collapse was attributed to the excessive load carried by sand transport lorries bound for Telangana. Despite concerns raised by residents about overloading lorries, no official intervention was observed, contributing to the gradual weakening of the bridge.
In response to the situation, citizens are urging government authorities to promptly initiate necessary repairs to restore functionality to the vital bridge.
