BRS, Congress activists engaged in slanging match

Noisy scenes were witnessed at the meeting organised to distribute Kalyana Lakshmi cheques to beneficiaries in Jagtial on Saturday.
Trouble began when Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) activists disturbed the meeting by objecting to the officials not displaying flex boards with photographs of people’s representatives. The officials displayed a flex board with the photograph of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. The BRS activists shouted slogans and the tension mounted.
The police, however, pacified the BRS workers and brought the situation under control. Tension built up again when the BRS activists distributed saris with the photograph of their party chief and former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
Government whip and Dharmapuri MLA Adluri Laxman Kumar raised objection to the BRS workers distributing saris. The Congress workers shouted slogans and demanded that the police seize the saris. The police moved the car in which saris were brought to the venue of the meeting to the police station.
Tension built up again when BRS MLA M Sanjay Kumar praised former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao. The Congress leaders, however, pacified the slogan shouting Congress workers/
The Kalyana Lakshmi cheques were distributed to beneficiaries from Jagtial town, rural and urban mandals. Jeevan Reddy, Laxman Kumar, MLA Sanjay Kumar, ZP chairperson D Vasantha and others were present.
