Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has said that the Congress government has been paying a lot of attention to the treatment of the poor and common people as part of the larger goal of providing ‘Indiramma rajyam’.
A meeting was held in the Deputy Chief Minister’s office on the formulation of budget estimates for the Department of Medical Health,Science and Technology at the Secretariat. State Health Minister Damodara Rajanarasimha attended the meeting.
Officials of the Medical and Health Department explained to Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka the programmes being implemented by the department, the schemes being implemented jointly by the central and the state governments and the overall performance of the department and through a power point presentation.
On this occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister said that as announced by the Congress before
the elections, within two days of coming to power, the ceiling on cover under Arogya Sri was increased to Rs.10 lakh. He said that the Congress government would give priority in the budget to the Medical and Health department to provide better treatment to the poor, common and middle class people of the state in government hospitals.
Officials have been directed to take special measures for implementing Rajiv Arogya Shri in all corporate hospitals. To check the spread of cancer, the Medical and Health Department staff will enhance awareness among the people. Health Minister Damodara Rajanarasimha
said that there was currently only one Science Center in Warangal in the state and appealed to the Deputy Chief Minister to consider proposals for setting up another science
center. The Deputy CM agreed to the request to provide funds for the construction of hospitals in various parts of the state. He asked the officials concerned to release budget
every month to the medical and health department.
Special Chief Secretary of Finance Department Ramakrishna Rao, Principal Secretary Vani Prasad, Health Secretary Christina, Finance Joint Secretary Haritha, Deputy CM Secretary Krishna Bhaskar and others participated in the meeting.
