A lucky mascot for the Tamil film industry, Hansika Motwani, who married the love of her life, recently spoke to The Pioneer’s Shikha Duggal about her coming project Man, life in general, movie life, and more.
Hansika Motwani is a very well-known face who gained widespread recognition as a child actor first. The success of that show and her performance in it brought her film offers simultaneously, and she made her B-town debut with the movie Koi Mil Gya, which turned out to be a huge success.
The starlet is back in theaters after a considerable gap; she is now gearing up for the release of her upcoming movie, Man, with which she is headlining a female-centric film. The film is directed by Igore and bankrolled by Madras Studios. Prior to the release of Man, The Pioneer sat down for an exclusive interview with Hansika Motwani, where we inquired how much she’s going to ameliorate with every movie she’s going to hop onto. Her response was filled with foresight and more.
“The quintessential idea of the film pulled me into this action-crime thriller. The psychological segment about amusing oneself with the troupe of a Man was rather interesting. With my 51st film, I ain’t here to preach about equality but will certainly dive deep into some emotional elements surrounding it. I can’t give my readers any more spoilers now; I think it’s sufficient for my fans to come watch me on celluloid,” sighed the actress about her upcoming project.
You can safely call Hansika a toiler; there was a time when she was fully packed with six films a year, and it doesn’t stop there. From our sources, we get to hear that she was also known to be the lucky mascot for the Tamil industry. At an age where usually girls are applying for a stable job or preparing to be a postgraduate, Hansika Motwani was already well-established. Wouldn’t we call this her backbreaking work? As we continue to speak with her, she informed shared her 2 cents of knowledge on how to be successful in this industry: “To be a tower of strength in this business, stick to self-determination, do not give up, and make sure you grease your elbows to showcase your potential to the country.
The Telugu industry calls for my roots. Tollywood cinema actually made me an actress. Announcement of a project in Telugu is always my comfort zone, to be precise.”
Hansika added, “By all means, my character is that of a fashion designer, and forthwith it screams glamour and glitz. However, I beg to differ; my storyline will rather decide the fascination quotient. I am loving this new crowd of moviegoers; they are so practical! Since female-centric films are impressing me to no end these days, I didn’t want to leave it to chance. Whenever my role will demand a charming appeal, I am not going to back out.”
A surprising fact about “Hansu”, as she’s lovingly called, is that she doesn’t like eating food. She opts for yoga; she doesn’t even like hitting the gym. And, interestingly, she plays squash! Can you see? Your favourite actress is so much in good shape and broke free from the trap of size-zero despite selecting not so mainstream choices.
Coming back to her main arena, storytelling, she could possibly sense the changes since the time she started working in the industry and lets us know too: “We have become an ideal conduit to prompt discussions about social issues, gender concerns, and feminist discourses. We are finally given importance! I detested being in blink-and-miss roles. It is okay for us to not even take the titular role sometimes, but our character roles cannot be given minimal presence anymore. Case in point: my character-driven agent Teena, who works alongside Kamal Hassan sir, is a good example. Glad to see actresses getting their due credit and respect on screen.”
Moving ahead in this extremely involved conversation, we learned, “I am no more apprehensive about keeping myself before my fans, be it in my personal or professional life. I am totally aware of my power position as a public figure. I just abhor the feeling of how few of the fans try to take ownership of us. I am open to negative criticism, but you just can’t say anything and everything to us.”
She was associating it with her series as she gears up for her marriage to the love of her life, whereas her series is becoming insanely popular with the masses. Now, she can’t wait for the promotions for her new movie to begin and create a buzz all over again!
