Central aid of Rs 232 cr for Rashtriya Krishi Vikas not used

A Central assistance of Rs 4,369.81 crore was released to Telangana from 2005-06 under the Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP). Of this, Rs 43.95 crore released in 2021-22 for the J. Chokka Rao Devadula Lift irrigation scheme was not utilised.

The data was provided by the Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar, in the Rajya Sabha to a question on funds released to the Government of Telangana under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY) and the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY)

Responding to BJP MP Dr K. Laxman the Union Minister said, “An amount of Rs 36.36 crore was released under the Command Area Development & Water Management which has not been utilized. Central assistance of Rs 104.56 crore was released for the repair, renovation and restoration of water bodies under the ‘Har Khet Ko Pani’ scheme and it has been utilised.”

Under RKVY, Central assistance of Rs 579.87 crore has been released to TS from 2016-17 to 2019-20 out of which Rs 347.47 crore has been utilised. It means that an amount of Rs 232 crore was not utilised.

During the year 2022-23, PDMC was implemented under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY). Under PDMC so far Central assistance of Rs 679.32 crore (2015-16 to 2018-19) was released to the State and it has been utilised.

The Watershed Development Component (WDC-PMKSY 2.0) is implemented by the Department of Land Resources. Under WDC-PMKSY 2.0, a Central share of Rs 27.60 crore was released to State in 2021-22.

During the current year, an amount of Rs 38.36 crore of Central share was released to the State.

The Per Drop More Crop (PDMC) scheme is implemented by the Union Department of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare (DA&FW). PDMC had a component of PMKSY from 2015-16 to 2021-22.
