Union Minister of State for Steel and Heavy Industries Bhupatiraju Srinivasa Varma has asserted that the Central government has no plans to privatise the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP).
Speaking to the media during his visit to Jangareddygudem on Sunday, the Union Minister stated that the government is focused on strengthening the VSP by addressing its current challenges. “The Centre aims to keep VSP as a public sector unit and is committed to resolving all obstacles,” he reiterated. He emphasised that safeguarding the VSP is a collective responsibility.
Bhupatiraju Srinivasa Varma also announced that the construction of the Bhadrachalam-Kovvur railway line has been completed up to Sattupalli, with the remaining work to be completed promptly.
The Union Minister further acknowledged that the Centre has released Rs 15,000 crore and is prepared to provide additional funds for various development projects in Andhra Pradesh. “Both the Centre and the State government are determined to expedite the completion of the Polavaram project,” he added.
