PNS|Vijayawada
The week-long awareness campaign of Clean Andhra Pradesh (CLAP), organised by the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, concluded in the city on Sunday. As part of the programme, ward sachivalayam staff conducted door-to-door visits and created awareness on the segregation of dry and wet garbage among the people.
On the final day of the programme, ward sachivalayam staff conducted mass rallies and human chains. Rallies were taken out from the Punja Centre to Chittinagar in Circle-1, Raghavaiah Park to Lenin Centre in Circle-2 and Ramavarappadu Ring to Gunadala Mary Matha Temple in Circle-3. An oath was taken to turn Vijayawada city into a ‘Swachh City’.
The VMC staff told people to hand over dry and wet garbage separately to the sanitary staff, and to use cloth bags instead of plastic covers. Also, the people should stop open defecation and urination and maintain the city clean and green.
VMC Additional Commissioner (Projects) KV Satyavathi, CMOH Ratnavali, zonal commissioners, assistant commissioners, health officers, sanitary supervisors, sachivalayam staff and volunteers participated in the programmes.
