Collector asks self-help groups to achieve financial empowerment

District Collector A Thameem Ansariya exhorted self-help group women to strive to achieve financial empowerment.
Collector Thameem Ansariya participated as the chief guest in the district level workshop organized on the management of self-help groups profiling app held in the Grievance Hall of the Collectorate on Wednesday.
Addressing the self-help group women on the occasion, Collector Ansariya asked the members of self-help groups to take advantage of the various schemes, being implemented by the Central and State Governments for women empowerment and strive hard to achieve financial self-sufficiency.
The members of the Self-help groups should take advantage of the schemes offered by the Central and State Governments to become entrepreneurs and work for women empowerment. The members of self-help groups should work hard to ensure that every girl gets an education and also work for social change.
The Collector revealed that under the ‘Bangaru Balyam, programme, the district is focusing on children in the age group of 0 to 18 years, especially girls. She lamented that child marriages are galore in the district and informed that a massive campaign is being launched to prevent child marriages. She appealed to the self-help groups’ women to take part in the campaign.
“The State Government is bringing a new app to strengthen the Self-help groups. In this app, financial and social comprehensive data of the members of the Self-help groups will be uploaded. Every self-help group member, who attended the training programme today on the management of the app should be explained” the Collector observed.  
She suggested that efforts should be made to record comprehensive data, stating that this app will be available in the month of January, 2025. MEPMA PD Ravi Kumar, AO Vinil and other officials were among those who attended the meeting.
