Collector inaugurates FPO

District Collector AS Dinesh Kumar inaugurated the Talluru Farmers Producers Organisation (FPO) at Nagambotlapalem in Thalluru mandal on Monday.

The Farmers’ Producer Company was jointly established by the NABARD and EFFORT which is an NGO. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that farmers could get better benefits by being united. He said that the Farmers Producers Organisation (FPO) would support the farmers in all ways, just like Self Help Societies for women.

Farmers should form into groups and the groups should join FPO. It has been explained that the formation of crop cultivation would bring benefits like modern technology, input supply, more value addition to the crops, and market facility, adding that the farmers would also get used to financial discipline.

The Collector ordered the secretariat staff to ensure that every farmer would be in one group. District Agriculture Officer Srinivasa Rao said that if the farmers were in FPO, they could supply machinery on behalf of the government at a discount. The farmers in the FPO could rent away the machinery to others in the village after the meeting requirements.

The Collector handed over band papers to those who have shares in the EFPO.

RDO Visveswara Rao, NABARD AGM Venkataramana, APMIP PD Ravindra Babu, District Horticulture Department Officer Gopichand, LDM Yugandhar, EFFORT Executive Director Mohan Rao, Mandal Special Officer Upendra Kumar and other officials were present.
