Collector put officials on high alert in Nizamabad district

District Collector Rajeevgandhi Hanumanthu has asked the district officials to monitor the situation at the field level and prepare a comprehensive action plan given the incessant rains lashing the district.

Reviewing the situation with officials of Irrigation, Agriculture, Revenue, Panchayat Raj, Animal Husbandry, Horticulture and other departments at the Integrated District Officers’ Complex here on Thursday, he sought details of water levels in various tanks.

He also reviewed the situation because of inflows into Sri Ram Sagar Project in the district. He sought information about the loss of crops due to the rains.

He said that the condition in the district is under control and there are no reports of loss of life and other untoward incidents from anywhere in the district.

Asking officials to take all precautionary measures to prevent bunds developing breaches and alert the people living in the catchment area of the SRSP, he asked the authorities to prevent fishermen from venturing into the reservoir for fishing. Youth and children should not venture into the reservoir water for swimming, he said.

TS Transco officials have been asked to take precautions to ensure that there are no incidents of electrocution.

He asked the people to contact the control room in the Collectorate by calling 08462-220183 as the district machinery is geared up to meet any eventuality. He asked the people to follow the precautions. A 24×7 flood control room with phone number 08462-221403 has been set up at the District Irrigation office, according to Irrigation Chief Engineer R Madhusudhan Rao. He asked the people to contact the control room in case of any emergency.
