Communists are habituated to contesting elections after forging an alliance with one party or the other. The tradition is going on even after the State’s division.

The Communists wanted to go along with the BRS in the Assembly elections and harboured illusions that they were going to contest in alliance with the ruling BRS. However, BRS supremo K. Chandrasekhar Rao shocked the Communists by announcing tickets unilaterally for 115 Assembly constituencies in one go on August 21.

KCR’s strategic announcement shattered the hopes of the Reds to enter the Assembly.

Baffled by KCR’s unexpected act, the Communists have been conducting meetings one after the other. The leaders of the CPI and the CPM have been issuing statements against KCR.

However, now the Communists are gathering strength to criticise KCR and it seems that they are coming out from the shock given by KCR. The Communists who praised KCR saying that he is the only leader who can take on the BJP effectively have now started criticising him.

CPI leaders Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao and Chada Venkat Reddy launched a scathing attack against KCR on Thursday and warned that they will show their strength to KCR during the Assembly elections.

They said that they have around 10,000 votes in 30 Assembly constituencies and will show its impact to the BRS.

Sambasiva said that they did not suffer any shock due to KCR’s decision and asked KCR to announce his stand clearly on September 17. He said they will conduct a public meeting on September 17 in Hyderabad.

Chada Venkat Reddy said that KCR made several fake promises during the Telangana movement and forgot the assurances he had made to TS martyrs. KCR speaks as he likes during elections and Dr K. Keshava Rao went to the Rajya Sabha with the votes of the Left, Chada said.

Meanwhile, the CPI and the CPM are saying that for the time being they will contest elections together. However, the CPI and the CPM are waiting for a party to come forward to join hands with them to contest elections. Now the Left has a chance for an alliance only with the Congress.
