All eyes are on Malkajgiri after the controversy created by Mynampally Hanumanth Rao’s comments against Harish Rao over the BRS ticket for Medak constituency.

Political analysts are trying to find out whether Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao can pull off what former Chief Minister YS Rajashekar Reddy did in 2009.

SC leader Sarve Satyanarayana who won the LS election from Siddipet in 2004 contested in the non-SC LS constituency of Malkajgiri in 2009 and won. Sarve Satyanarayana’s win was attributed to the YSR wave.

As Chief Minister KCR is confident of the ‘BRS wave,’ now there are speculations that KCR might field Sarve’s son-in-law Krishank Manne in Malkajgiri instead of Mynampally.

Political analysts say that fielding a Dalit leader in a non-Dalit constituency will boost the party’s image which regularly gets criticised for not making a Dalit the CM.

Highly placed sources said that Mynampally never approached the BRS high command seeking a ticket for his son. However, Krishank is in a race with Marri Rajashekar Reddy, the son-in-law of Malla Reddy and Talasani Sai Kiran, the son of Talasani Srinivas Yadav. Even Alwal corporator Chintala Vijayasanthi is in race.

Political analysts say that the Mynampally issue arose as he wanted a ticket for his son Rohit. KCR may not give a ticket to either of the two as it puts Mynampally in a winning position. Rajashekar unsuccessfully contested against Revanth Reddy and Sai Kiran against Kishan Reddy in 2019.

Sources said that the verbal attack by Mynampally’s associates against Krishank is based on the impression that the latter is a potential candidate.

TSMDC Chairman Krishank wasn’t available to respond. He was in the run for the Cantonment ticket but it was given to Lasya Nanditha who is the daughter of former MLA Sayanna who died earlier this year. As Krishank is a close associate of KTR his inability to get a BRS ticket surprised many.

KTR himself tweeted, “Disappointments must be taken in one’s stride in public life. Unfortunately, some very deserving, capable leaders like Krishank and some others could not be accommodated. Will ensure he and others who have been denied an opportunity to contest get their chance in another way to serve the people.”
