The appointment of new TPCC president has taken a new turn. TPCC working President B Mahesh Kumar Goud was the front-runner for the new post, who has the blessings of  TPCC President and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
The Congress circles were openly told that the choice of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for the new TPCC Chief was Mahesh Kumar Goud. But surprisingly, the Congress high command in the last minute selected Mahesh Kumar as MLC candidate in the by election of MLAs quota.
Earlier, Congress high command sent signals to Congress leader Addanki Dayakar Rao that he will be selected aa an MLC candidate. Both Mahesh Kumar Goud and Addanki Dayakar Rao are close associates of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. The Congress leaders opined that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy might not have proposed Mahesh Kumar’s name for MLC candidate because he wants to make him the new TPCC President in his place. So Chief Minister Revanth might have proposed Addanki Dayakar’s name as MLC candidate. But, in the last minute, the Congress high command has selected Mahesh Kumar in place of Addanki Dayakar. Under these circumstances the Congress high command will select the leader for new TPCC post who is close to the Chief Minister or it will decide the leader according to its choice is creating interest in the Congress circles.
If the Congress high command appoints the new TPCC president who is not close to the Chief Minister, that means the high command wants to have a check on CM Revanth, commented a senior Congress leader. In the past, the Congress high command did the same thing in several states. But in the recent times the Congress high command stopped this kind of politics.
The Congress high command feels that it had made a mistake in the past by giving a free hand to YS Rajasekhar Reddy when he was the Chief Minister. During those days Congress leaders used to say that Rajasekhar Reddy is running the Congress in the State as a regional party and not as a national party.
Whether the high command will appoint the new TPCC chief who has close relationship with Chief Minister Revanth or who will act independently, has become a debatable question.
