Congress cannot defeat KCR, declares Rajgopal

Must read

Vehemently denying reports that he is joining the Congress again, BJP leader Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy said that there is a conspiracy to weaken the BJP with hostile publicity as Telangana is going to the polls in six months.

Rajgopal appealed to the people not to believe such reports and he made it clear that he will continue in the BJP.

He said that it is not possible for the Congress to defeat KCR as it does not have power at the Centre and lacks a strong leadership in the State.

Speaking to the media in New Delhi on Thursday, Rajgopal said that his friends have been asking him to join the Congress after the Karnataka election results. Some sections of the media are also publishing reports that I will quit the BJP. TPCC president Revanth Reddy earned crores through blackmailing. He joined the Congress after working for the TDP for 20 years, he said.

“We were in the Congress for many years. How can we work under the leadership of Revanth who joined a few months back? I am not a person who sells myself for money. I am a fighter. They defeated me in the Munugode by spreading lies as they failed to face me politically. I joined the BJP to topple KCR. The conditions in Karnataka and Telangana are different. In fact, differences are cropping up between leaders in the Telangana Congress even before the elections. Congress won’t win in Telangana like in Karnataka,” he said.

He said that there are four groups in the Congress up under the leadership of Revanth Reddy, Uttam Kumar Reddy, Jana Reddy and Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka. Elections have not taken place but these four groups are campaigning to make their leader the Chief Minister, he said.

Rajgopal said that he had never committed an offence in his 55 years of life. “My company wins tenders transparently. But they spread the lie that I sold out to the BJP. Positions are not important to me. I joined the BJP reposing confidence in the leadership of Modi and Amit Shah and believing that they will keep debt-riddled Telangana on the right track. The people too believe that only the BJP only has the capability to defeat the BRS. I am not afraid of the media and its lies,” he said.

Rajgopal also made it clear that nobody lobbied to remove Sanjay from the Telangana BJP president’s post.

“Last night I discussed with Sunil Bansal for more than an hour on how to strengthen the party in Telangana. Sanjay will continue as the BJP president. No one is lobbying for the president’s post. As this is an election year, Sanjay will continue as President. Otherwise, he will be given other responsibilities. The final decision will be taken by the high command as his 3-year term has ended. There is a conspiracy to weaken the BJP but it will not work,” he said.

“This is an election year and so they are spreading lies about the BJP to weaken it. The BJP will rise in Telangana and a large number of people are joining the BJP,” he said.
