The highly anticipated pre-release event of Balakrishna’s upcoming film Daaku Maharaaj, which was scheduled to take place today in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, has been cancelled. Directed by Bobby Kolli and produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya, the event was set to feature Balakrishna’s son-in-law and Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh as the chief guest.
Arrangements for the grand event had been underway for several days, and the unit was fully prepared to head to Anantapur. However, a tragic incident in Tirupati led to a change in plans.
On the previous night, a stampede occurred in Tirupati, resulting in the loss of several lives. The unfortunate incident, which took place at a devotional site, deeply saddened the team. Considering the circumstances, the filmmakers decided it was inappropriate to proceed with the event.
In a heartfelt statement, the film team announced the cancellation:
“Given the circumstances, we feel it is not appropriate to proceed with the Daaku Maharaaj pre-release event as planned. With a heavy heart and utmost respect for the devotion and sentiments of the people, we have decided to call off today’s event. We hope for your understanding and support during this difficult time.”
Some members of the unit had already left for Anantapur early in the morning but were asked to return after the cancellation decision was communicated.
Sources indicate that the team is now planning a smaller event in Hyderabad. However, this event will not involve fans and is likely to take place behind closed doors. “In Hyderabad, they may plan an event in closed doors, and it is not for fans. They will communicate through media channels,” a source shared.
The film Daaku Maharaaj is slated for release on January 12, coinciding with Pragya Jaiswal’s birthday and the Sankranti festival. Fans eagerly await further updates on the film’s promotional plans.
