Minister for Forest, Environment and Endowments Konda Surekha has said that the Ashada Bonalu festivals, which reflect Telangana’s culture and traditions, will proceed as planned. She announced that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has approved Rs 20 crore for organising this year’s Bonalu festivities. She highlighted that preparations for the grand celebration of Bonalu are already underway, with the State Festival Committee under the guidance of the Chief Minister overseeing the arrangements.
On Saturday, Minister Surekha conducted a comprehensive review at her office with the Commissioner of the Department of Endowments, focusing on the festival’s logistics, budget allocations, and related matters. She further detailed that the sanctioned Rs 20 crore will cover expenses such as temple decorations, procurement of garments, printing of informational materials, ambulance services, and cultural and media-related public relations expenses.
She emphasised that Revanth Reddy will lead the State Festival Committee in ensuring the smooth conduct of the Ashada Bonalu festival. She underscored the committee’s role in addressing any issues that may arise during the festival, including the selection process for festival committees in major temples, which is slated for completion within the next few days.
Surekha reaffirmed the government’s commitment to showcasing the cultural richness of Telangana through the Bonalu festivals. She directed officials to prepare contingency plans to cater to the needs of children and the elderly, and to organise promotional activities such as hoardings and live broadcasts on DD Yadagiri to publicize the Bonalu festivals.
The Minister clarified that the Telangana Congress government is actively coordinating the central organization of this year’s Ashada Bonalu festivals.
