The Congress has been trying to fight the Assembly elections in alliance with the CPI and the CPM. The Congress launched an attempt immediately after the Left broke with the BRS.

Intensifying their efforts, Congress leaders explained about the importance of an alliance with the Left to AICC President Mallikarjuna Kharge on Sunday before he left for Bengaluru.

Congress leaders explained to Kharge that Communists may not have the strength to win elections on their own but they have the strength to decide the outcome in some constituencies.

They explained to Kharge that it is easy to defeat the BRS with the help of the Left and brought to his attention that the vote bank of Communists may be small but it can become positive for the Congress and negative for the BRS if there is an alliance with the Left.

TPCC Campaign Committee Chairman Madhu Yashki Goud confirmed that discussions were going on for an alliance with Left parties.

In response to the appeals of Telangana Congress leaders, Kharge directed Telangana Congress in-charge Manikrao Thakre to go ahead with talks with Left parties. Following the directions of Kharge, Thakre made phone calls to Left leaders on Sunday itself.

In response to Thakre’s phone call, the CPI made four proposals to the Congress on an alliance. The CPI asked for the four seats of Munugode, Husnabad, Bellampalli and Kothagudem if the Congress wanted an alliance with the CPI. The Congress expressed its willingness to give two seats, Munugode and Husnabad, and one MLC seat.

The CPI made it clear that they are ready for an alliance if the Congress gives Munugode, Bellampally, Husnabad and Kothagudem. Meanwhile, the CPI told Thakre that it will take a decision after discussions in the party.

Speaking to the media, CPI State Secretary Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao said that they are not ready to sacrifice their intention to contest where they are strong.

The CPM held a meeting to discuss alliances. The meeting was held under the leadership of CPM State Secretary Thammineni Veerabhadram. CPM Politburo Member BV Raghavulu also attended the meeting. The meeting was held till Sunday evening and it discussed the Assembly elections.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Thammineni ram said that the BRS ignored alliance dharma. He said that the BRS is getting close to the BJP and so it neglected Left parties.

He said that their high command had directed them not to be in a hurry to forge alliances in Telangana. He said that it is certain that the dreams of Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah of coming to power in Telangana would not be fulfilled.

In fact, the CPM is interested in contesting from Miryalaguda, Palair, and Devarakonda. The CPM would ask the Congress to give these three seats if it wants an alliance with it.

The CPI and the CPM have already made it clear that they will have an alliance and contest elections even if they do not have a deal with any other party like the Congress.
