Congress will win 13 to 14 LS seats in Telangana: Uttam

Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Friday expressed confidence that the Congress party would sweep the coming Lok Sabha elections in Telangana by winning at least 13 to 14 seats with a vast majority.
He was addressing the Nalgonda Parliamentary constituency election preparatory meeting at Mattampally and  Huzurnagar on Saturday. More than 10,000 Congress workers from the Assembly constituencies of Huzurnagar, Kodad, Suryapet, Miryalaguda, Devarkonda, Nagarjuna Sagar and Nalgonda participated in the meeting. Several prominent leaders, including AICC in-charge Deepa Das Munshi, Ministers Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Tummala Nageshwara Rao, former Leader of Opposition K Jana Reddy, Nalgonda Lok Sabha candidate K Raghuveer Reddy, MLAs, MLCs, and other leaders spoke.
Uttam Kumar Reddy, who won as Nalgonda MP in the 2019 elections and represented the seat until he became a Minister in December 2023, is confident that Congress would retain the seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, setting a new record for the highest winning margin in the country.
“I have been elected from the Nalgonda region seven times as MLA and MP. Your unwavering support for the Congress party has been instrumental in my electoral victories. This is the result of the Congress cadre’s hard work, sacrifices, and dedication. During my tenure as Nalgonda MP, I have facilitated significant development. Now, as the charge of Nalgonda seat, I consider it a challenge not only to win but also to secure the highest majority in Telangana and across India,” Uttam Kumar Reddy said amid thunderous applause from party workers.
He said that Nalgonda had achieved the highest membership of the Congress party, with over 4.5 lakh members across India. Similarly, Nalgonda will prove to be a seat won by the Congress party with the highest-ever majority.
He accused the BJP government of betraying the farmer’s community. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised in 2016 to double farmers’ income by 2022. Not only the Prime Minister failed to double the farmers’ income, but when their income has declined. He said the Modi government has burdened farmers by imposing GST on agricultural equipment and input materials. Questioning the credibility of BJP leaders campaigning in Telangana, especially Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he demanded clarification on the promised creation of 2 crore jobs annually. He criticised the Modi government’s policies, such as demonetisation, flawed GST implementation, and the unplanned COVID-19 lockdown, which led to significant job losses.
The Congress leader said that the Modi government failed to honour the promises made in the AP Reorganisation Act of establishing a Railway Coach Factory at Kazipet and a Steel Factory at Bayyaram, which could have created thousands of jobs for local youth.
In her speech, AICC Telangana in-charge Deepdas Munshi said that Nalgonda has always been a strong fortress for the Congress party. She said that the Congress party could not have formed the government in Telangana without the support of the Nalgonda people.
