CPI (M) state secretary V Srinivasa Rao demanded the AP government to revoke the GO 1 as it is muzzling the voice of leaders and appealed to all parties and organisations to oppose the GO.

Addressing the CPM plenary here on Wednesday, Srinivasa Rao described the GO 1 as arbitrary which was brought to oppress the democratic values.

Since there is vehement opposition from all political parties and organisations against the GO 1, Additional DGP Ravi Shankar Ayyannar clarified that public meetings and other meetings were not banned under the GO 1. When the public meetings and other meetings were not banned under the GO 1, why the government had passed the GO, the CPM state secretary asked the Additional DGP.

The CPM leader demanded the government to repeal the GO 1 completely. “It is a good development that all parties demand to revoke the GO 1 even though there are many differences of opinions among the political parties. Telugu Desam feels that the GO 1 was brought to suppress them in the wake of Kandukur and Guntur stampede incidents. TDP wants all the parties to come together,” the CPM leader said.

Srinivasa Rao recalled that the CPI had approached the Court seeking the revocation of the GO 1. He called upon all democrats, intellectuals and lawyers to fight against the arbitrary GO 1.

“The CPM has given a call on behalf of the Joint Forum to burn the copies of GO 1 on Bhogi festival day. The CPM will always stand in the forefront in opposing anti-people policies of the government and spearhead agitations against them,” he made it clear.

The CPM leader slammed that Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is begging the Prime Minister to sanction projects. The Chief Minister is unable to exert pressure on the Centre for granting of ‘Special Category Status’, he lashed out.

Expressing concern over the growing religious hatreds in the country, CPM state secretary Srinivasa Rao lambasted that the BJP has become detrimental to the country as it has no agenda except stoking people on religion basis, adding that the BJP is doing politics on the Hindutva card. CPM district secretary Sayyad Hanif and state committee members Punati Anjaneyulu were among those who were present.
