In a move that has left fans surprised, the highly anticipated collaboration between director Prasanth Varma, actor Ranveer Singh, and Mythri Productions for the ambitious project Rakshas has hit a roadblock. Earlier in April, Mythri Productions officially announced their partnership with Varma and Singh for this mega-budget venture set against a mythological backdrop during the pre-independence era. Reports hinted at Singh portraying a grey character, adding to the intrigue surrounding the project.
However, recent developments indicate that the actor-director duo has decided to part ways on the venture due to creative differences. Despite Singh’s visit to Hyderabad in April for a photo shoot to announce the film, plans for the official announcement have been shelved.
According to a source close to the development, speaking to Pinkvilla, “Ranveer Singh will no longer be a part of Prashanth Varma’s Rakshas. They have amicably parted ways due to creative differences.” Despite exploring various solutions, the duo has opted to move on, with a promise to collaborate in the future. The director is now set to restart the casting process, aiming to ensure the film hits the big screen before shifting focus to his next project, Jai HanuMan.
As for Singh, sources close to the actor revealed that he is currently prioritising his personal life, gearing up for parenthood alongside wife Deepika Padukone, with their first child expected in September.
While the exit of Singh from Rakshas comes as a surprise, fans remain eager to see how the project evolves under Varma’s direction and who will step into the lead role in this eagerly anticipated film.
