Agriculture Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy told farmers in a statement that there is no need to worry about the loan waiver process. Farmers with dormant bank accounts and DBT failed accounts will also receive the crop loan money, said Niranjan.
“Farmers needing loan waivers need not worry if their bank accounts are closed or the account number has changed due to any reason. Farmers with dormant bank accounts and DBT failed accounts will also receive the crop loan amount,” the Minister said.
The government is trying to ensure that only actual beneficiaries get the loan waiver money. All information is stored in the Kuber technology system.
“The government is committed to its promise to waive loans up to Rs 1 lakh per family taken till December 11, 2018. As per the instructions of the Chief Minister, the process of releasing these funds to the loan accounts of the farmers is going on. The loan waiver process will be completed within the stipulated time as announced by the government,” he said.
He said that so far the government has released Rs 8,089.74 crore to the bank accounts of 16,65,656 farmers. The crop loan waiver process for loans of up to Rs 1 lakh will be applicable to the respective farmer families irrespective of the amount of loans above Rs 1 lakh taken till December 11, 2018.
A database of farmers eligible for the loan waiver scheme was prepared in 2020. Due to the merger of banks, some problems have arisen due to changes in the details of farmers’ bank accounts.
He said that changes and additions to accounts in banking systems are frequent. Since then data has been given to bankers three times to update bank account numbers and IFSC codes which have been updated again.
