Desperate act of the police chief

TS Police chief Anjani Kumar meeting the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president A Revanth Reddy at the latter’s house even as election results were being announced has become a hot topic of discussion in bureaucratic circles. It also proved once again that officials, uniformed or otherwise, can change their colours chameleon-like in the blink of an eye. Even though the office of the DGP had claimed that the meeting in question was about “making arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony”, the EC, which had taken suo motu cognisance of the violation of the Mode Code of Conduct, recommended his suspension. Official circles inimical to the state police chief are discussing how unbecoming and shameful it was on the part of Anjani Kumar to call on Revanth Reddy, who had abused him left, right and centre. Nonetheless, it would be interesting to watch if Revanth will sympathise with Anjani by treating his job-endangering greeting as an act of self-flagellation.
