District Collector K Vijaya Krishnan inspected the fighter jets emergency landing area on the Chennai-Kolkata highway at Picchia Gudipadu village in Korisepadu mandal on Tuesday.
The Indian Airforce is conducting a trial run of the landing of jet fighters and a cargo flight on the national highway on December 29. Air Force officials explained to her the latest technology and latest radar system.
The Collector directed the police and R&B officials to take needed steps to stop vehicular traffic on the national highway on December 29, at 11 am to facilitate the landing of fighter jets. The Collector said that for the first time the emergency land is being made available to the IAF in South India in AP. After completion of trail run, the emergency landing facility on the NH would likely be dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Narnedra Modi in 2023.
IAF group captain RS Chowdary said that a trial run of landing jet fighters would be conducted on December 29 and all arrangements were made in this regard. The entire area on the NH would be under the control of the IAF of Suryalanka. JC Dr.K Srinivasulu, DROP Sarojani and IAF administration office K Sayyad and other officials were present.
