District Collector RV Karnan on Wednesday announced that the draft electoral rolls would be published on August 21. Objections, if any, to the draft electoral rolls can be submitted to the district administrations between August 21 and September 19. Apart from it, the Booth Level Officer would enrol the eligible voters, who found their names missing, at the polling booths on August 26 and 27 and September 2 and 3, he said.
The Collector was holding a review meeting with the representatives of various political parties and officials detailed for poll duties.
Speaking on the occasion, Karnan asked the representatives of the political parties to appoint booth-level agents. He directed the officials to give wide publicity to special camps to be held to enrol eligible voters whose names were not included in electoral rolls. He sought the cooperation of all political parties to prepare error-free electoral rolls.
The Collector announced that the final electoral rolls would be published on October 4. There are six Assembly constituencies and 1,747 polling centres. The constituency in-charge officers suggested that 21 more polling stations be set up. The polling stations would be set up in the government and private schools to the extent possible, he said.
Additional Collector Hamanth Keshav Patil and J Srinivasulu and others were present.
Later, the Collector inspected the warehouse in which EVMs were stored in the presence of the representatives of political parties.
