In a groundbreaking development, the long-cherished dream of owning a house is set to become a reality for about 5 lakh beneficiaries across the State. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will inaugurate the 5 lakh houses, built for the poor, in the third week of August, fulfilling the aspirations of the underprivileged in the state. This initiative is a result of the efforts of the Housing department.

During the auspicious Sravanamasam, Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy will personally hand over the keys to the women beneficiaries, symbolising empowerment and progress. The grand inauguration ceremony will take place at Samarlakota Urban in Kakinada district, where 2,298 houses have been meticulously constructed and are ready for distribution.

At the heart of this project is Chief Minister’s vision to provide permanent shelter to the impoverished populace, resulting in the distribution of more than 30 lakh house pattas to deserving women beneficiaries across the state. The construction of 18,63,604 houses is currently underway, with 5 lakh houses already completed and ready for the momentous inauguration in the third week of August.

The joyous occasion will witness simultaneous housewarming ceremonies across 26 districts, with a special focus on performing the event in colonies where more than 500 houses have been completed. The presence of all Public Representatives and officials will add prestige to the celebrations.

The government has meticulously planned the infrastructure facilities in these colonies, ensuring the provision of internal roads, drinking water, electricity, and soak pits. Furthermore, the new houses will be adorned with attractive Warli art, reflecting the rich cultural heritage, and Welcome arches will greet the proud new homeowners.

In preparation for the upcoming event, Ajay Jain, IAS Special Chief Secretary of the Housing Department, inspected the proposed colony in Samarlakota that will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister.

Accompanying him was Dora Babu, Chairman of Andhra Pradesh State Housing Corporation and in charge of Peddapuram Assembly constituency, along with Sri Lakshmisha, Managing Director of Andhra Pradesh State Housing Corporation, who reviewed the arrangements.

On Saturday, Ajay Jain and Sri Lakshmisha conducted a review of the preparations with all the district officials, emphasizing the need for a grand and well-organized housewarming ceremony. They instructed that all infrastructure works be completed on a war footing basis, ensuring a smooth transition for the beneficiaries into their new homes.
