The incessant rains in Vijayawada city have triggered landslides in Indrakeeladri. Many boulders fell on the Ghat Road in the wee hours of Wednesday. Luckily, no one was injured.
The boulders on the road caused inconvenience to the devotees going to the temple atop Indrakeeladri.
Learning of the landslide, Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam officials closed the Ghat Road to prevent any untoward incidents.
Meanwhile, the authorities allowed devotees to have darshan from the Mallikharjuna Maha Mandapam. The road will remain closed until the flood recedes, said temple Executive Officer (EO) D Bramaramba in a press release.
Also, she stated that though there was mesh around the hill for the safety of the devotees, the Ghat Road was closed. Until the flood receded, vehicular traffic would be suspended on the road, she added.
