Eluru district Collector V Prasanna Venkatesh has said that Eluru district has got Rs 17,23,53,000 under the Jagananna Thodu scheme.
Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy released Rs 431.58 crore under Jagananna Thodu benefiting 3,95,000 small and marginal street vendors and artisans with interest free bank loans of Rs 10,000 and more each on Thursday from his camp office in Tadepalli.
The amount, released for the eighth consecutive time, includes interest subvention amounting to Rs. 13.64 crore benefitting 5.81 lakh beneficiaries who have availed loans and repaid them promptly on time.
On the occasion, a programme was organized here on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, Collector Prasanna said that 16,289 beneficiaries in the district were being disbursed Rs 17,23,53,000 under the Jagananna Thodu scheme in the district for the eighth consecutive time. Each beneficiary would get Rs 10,000.
The benefits being disbursed under the Jagananna Thodu scheme would be helpful to petty traders, marginal street vendors and traditional artisans.
ZP chairperson Ghanta Padmasri lauded Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy for extending financial support to petty vendors and traditional artisans. If the borrowers repay the loans regularly their interest would be reimbursed, she stated.
The government launched the scheme to ensure that the petty traders, street vendors and artisans do not borrow money from money lenders at higher interest rates, she said. MLA Dulam Nageswara Rao also spoke. The Collector and the ZP chairperson released a replica of the cheque on the occasion.
