Energy Minister brings electricity to Adivasi villages

Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar has brought electricity to several Adivasi hamlets in the Yerragondapalem constituency of Prakasam district, ending decades of darkness in these remote areas.
Many tribal families living between Yerragondapalem and Srisailam have been without electricity since independence. After a survey with officials from the electricity department, the minister found that 1,750 Adivasi households were still unelectrified. He raised the issue with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who approved a plan for full solar electrification of these villages.
With an investment of around ?2.20 crores, electricity was provided to 956 tribal households in six villages. Additionally, 611 families in the Tiger Reserve Zone were identified for solar electrification. Minister Ravi Kumar assured them they would soon receive uninterrupted power through solar batteries.
The minister said that Adivasi families live in extreme poverty and that the government is committed to improving their living conditions. He highlighted that serving the poor is a priority for the government, and this initiative reflects its dedication to the welfare of Adivasi communities.
Ravi Kumar also announced plans to extend solar power to other families in the Tiger Reserve Zone and provide solar electricity for agricultural needs. He promised support under the employment guarantee scheme, ensuring workdays for the Adivasis. He stressed that the government is committed to protecting the rights of Adivasi communities and improving their quality of life.
