District Collector Vijaya Krishnan directed the officials to ensure that all the beneficiaries, who were allocated house sites and sanctioned loans, construct houses.
The Collector held a meeting with the officials of the housing construction department, DRDA and MEPMA here on Wednesday and reviewed the construction of houses in the Jagananna colonies. Speaking on the occasion, she asked the officials to motivate the beneficiaries who had been sanctioned housing loans to construct houses in their house sites.
She told the officials that there should be progress in the construction of houses in the Jagananna colonies. She questioned the officials why they had failed to achieve the set targets in the construction of houses and directed them to make ground level visits to know the reasons.
Houses should be constructed by those who were sanctioned loans; she said and asked the officials to ensure that the masons are provided to the beneficiaries for the construction of houses.
Collector Vijaya Krishnan expressed displeasure over the construction of houses in a tardy manner despite needed infrastructure being provided to the beneficiaries. She instructed the officials to work with diligence in the construction of houses in Jagananna colonies.
The Collector expressed anger over the existing housing construction department divisional engineer’s office in Tenali in Guntur district, adding that the office is supposed to be located in Vemuru in Bapatla district. She instructed the officials to ensure that the office is shifted to Vemuru by three days.
The Collector said that the officials in Chirala, Parchur, Addanki and Repalle constituency had failed in reaching targets, and reprimanded them to go to other districts if they did not like to work in Bapatla district.
“As against the target of starting the construction of 8,664 houses, the construction of 4,800 houses has begun. The progress in the construction of houses in Jagananna colonies is not as expected. The repairs of the irrigation canal near to the Jagananna colonies should be carried out on war footing,” she told the officials and instructed them to send daily reports on the construction of houses in Jagananna colonies.
DRDA PD B Arun Rao, MEPMP PD R Ravi Kumar, DWMA PD Y Shankar Nayak and other officials were present.
