Stress on infrastructure upgrades not only resolving traffic bottlenecks but also integrating flood mitigation measures to prevent water-logging during monsoons
In a significant move to address Hyderabad’s urban challenges, Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) Principal Secretary M Dana Kishore chaired a teleconference with GHMC officials, engineers and city planners to review the progress of the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Initiative (H-CITI).
The meeting emphasised accelerating infrastructure projects to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance public welfare across Greater Hyderabad. Officials, including GHMC Commissioner, Additional Commissioners, Zonal Commissioners, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers and City Planners were instructed to form dedicated teams and conduct field visits to all H-CITI project sites.
Principal secretary Dana Kishore mandated a thorough review of ongoing works, including flyovers, road expansions, underpasses, Rail Under Bridges (RUBs), Retaining Walls (ROWs), and ROW Beautification Initiatives (RoWBs), to ensure the project’s success with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s vision for a congestion-free, flood-resilient Hyderabad.
Every H-CITI project must prioritise maximum public benefit and long-term convenience. Dana Kishore stressed that infrastructure upgrades should not only resolve traffic bottlenecks but also integrate flood mitigation measures to prevent water-logging during monsoons.
Officials were directed to submit written suggestions for improvements, modifications, or additions to existing projects. The focus is on innovative solutions to eliminate traffic disruptions during construction and ensure minimal public inconvenience.
The Principal Secretary highlighted the need for coordinated efforts between departments to expedite work while maintaining quality. Projects like flyovers and road widening must align with Hyderabad’s long-term urban development goals, ensuring seamless connectivity and sustainability.
