EVM’s first randomisation process complete: DEO

District Election Officer Ronald Rose said that the first randomisation process of Control Unit (CU) and Ballot Unit (BU) and voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) was completed on Wednesday as part of the arrangements for the Lok Sabha elections.
The finalised list by randomisation was handed over to the representatives of the political parties and the returning officers of the two parliamentary constituencies. There are 3,986 polling centres in 15 Assembly segments. As per the ECI instructions, 25 per cent additional CUs, BUs and 40 per cent of VVPATs will be kept in reserve.
Hyderabad Returning Officer Anudeep Durishetti, Secunderabad RO Hemant Keshav Patil, Secunderabad Cantonment Returning Officer Madhukar Naik and Additional Election Commissioner Alivelu Mangatayaru participated in the randomisation process.
The DEO said that enforcement teams in the district from 6 am on Tuesday to 6 am on Wednesday seized Rs 1.72 crore, Rs 49.90 lakh worth of valuables and 91.17 liters of liquor. In 24 hours, three FIRs have been registered and 28 licenced weapons have been deposited.
Ronald Rose said that since the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) came into force, so far Rs 5.04 lakh and Rs 1.64 crore worth of other material items was sei zed, 130 cases were registered, 129 people were arrested and 2,269 licenced weapons were deposited.
