Expedite construction works: State housing Corporation Chairman

Davuluri Dorababu, Chairman of the State Housing Corporation, has appealed to speed up the construction of houses under the Navaratnalu Pedalaku Illu scheme. The 30th board meeting of the State Housing Corporation, chaired by Dorababu, was held on Wednesday.

On the occasion, the chairman said that construction of 2.10 lakh houses had been completed in the State so far. Another 12 lakh houses were under construction at various stages and everyone was requested to work hard to complete the works on time. He stated that the government had been implementing the scheme at a cost of around Rs 34,000 crore and aiming to complete the first phase works by December 2023.

He said that construction of 18.63 lakh houses had been taken up so far in the first and second phases of Navaratnalu scheme. They were working in accordance with CM Jagan’s goal of having a house for every poor in the State. The government was spending Rs 1.80 lakh for the construction of each house, and in addition to this, it was providing loans of Rs 35,000 through banks.

Lakshmisha, MD, State Housing Corporation, explained that Rs 8,000 crore had been spent on the Navaratnalu Pedalaku Illu scheme so far, and steps were being taken to complete the house construction on time. Godowns were being constructed in large layouts to supply construction materials to the beneficiaries at their doorsteps, and 72 godowns were under construction. Lakshmisha added that the government was spending Rs 33,000 crore for providing electricity and setting up drainages and roads.

SERP Chief Executive Officer Imtiaz Ahmed, Joint Managing Director of Housing Corporation M Shivaprasad, Chief Engineer GV Prasad, Board Directors and officers of Housing Corporation attended the meeting.
