Police seize ganja, nab four

A four-member gang was nabbed by the Hanuman Junction police near Pottipadu Toll plaza in Krishna district Wednesday. They seized ganja and liquid ganja from their possession, which was purchased from Alluri Sitaramaraju district and transported in an RTC bus. The accused were identified as Adesh Ramu of Bengaluru, Gatreddi Nagu of Dondapudi, Vizag, Dhanala Arun Kumar of Gnanapuram, Vizag, and Parapati Ramu of Purna market, Vizag.

On a tip-off, the Hanuman Junction police searched an RTC bus and seized 3.8 kg of liquid ganja and 18 kg of ganja from the four accused. They were transporting the ganja, which had been purchased from Alluri Sitaramaraju district. One of the accused, Adesh Ramu had earlier purchased 4 kg liquid ganja and one kg ganja and sold it in Bengaluru for a very high price.

The police said that Adesh Ramu decided to continue the ganja business in Bengaluru by selling it in small packets. Subsequently, he contacted the other accused.

The State police registered cases against Adesh Ramu, Dhanala Ramu, Arun Kumar and Parapati Ramu under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. Cases were booked in Narsipatnam, Kothakota, Kancharapalem, Anakapalli, Visakhapatnam etc. and the investigation was underway.
