The Cybercrime unit of the Hyderabad police on Saturday arrested a man for harassing women through a fake social media profile.
The accused was identified as Vijay Kumar (35), a native of Khammam; he befriended women and convinced them for video calls, which he recorded while being naked.
Kumar then threatened the victim stating that he would leak the same on social media. He also threatened to send the same to the victim’s family.
Based on the victim’s complaint, a case was registered by the Cybercrime unit. Kumar lured women on the pretext of offering part-time jobs and shared details of the job on his Instagram stories.
The accused gathered nude pictures and videos of the victims and threatened them to pay money.
Kumar was arrested under Sections 67 (A) IT Act and 386,354 (D), 509 of the IPC. The police seized a mobile phone from him.
