A bomb threat received via email at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) on Friday sparked a high-security alert, prompting swift action by security agencies.

A senior official who spoke to ‘The Pioneer’ said that the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the police, and a bomb disposal squad conducted extensive checks on the airport premises. Fortunately, no explosives were found.

The email was sent to the airport’s official administrative address by an unidentified individual claiming to be part of a terror sleeper cell.

The message warned of an imminent attack and challenged the state government to stop it. Authorities launched a full investigation, with the RGIA police exploring all leads.

Despite the threat, airport operations remained normal, although some flights may be adjusted due to tightened airspace monitoring and security protocols, said a release from the RGIA.

Airport operations continue, but expect longer wait times due to enhanced security screening. Passengers must strictly follow baggage and check-in guidelines. Parking is limited to 24 hours until further notice.

Check only official channels like the RGIA website or your airline’s website for real-time updates. Avoid spreading or relying on unverified information, the release said.
