Minister for Health Vidadala Rajini has announced that the Family Physician trial run which began on October 21, is successful. The Health minister held a review meeting with the officials in the APIIC towers in Mangalagiri on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, she said that the trial run of Family Physician began on October 21 and the trial run was successful. “104 MMU vehicles were sent to 4733 YSR health clinics twice in three weeks.

The medical staff went to the respective villages and conducted medical examinations to the patients at their villages itself. 104 MU vehicles were also deployed to 4267 village health clinics. The vehicles helped substantially to provide needed medical services and treatment to required people” Vidadala Rajini said.

She said that she herself took the opinions of people regarding the Family Physician concept and she had received an excellent response from them. She informed that six medical staff including an MBBS doctor, went directly to the respective villages to provide medical treatment to the needed patients.

Claiming successful implementation of family physicians is a great achievement, she said that it was possible only because of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, stating that people get 67 types of medicines free of cost through this medical system while 14 varieties of medical tests are done.

Vidadala Rajini said “So far 97,011 BP patients and 66,046 diabetes patients have been tested and medicines have been provided free of cost through the Family Physician concept”, explaining that while 86 percent of medical officers were available for the family physician system at the time of its initiation, currently 96.5 percent are available and they were continuously recruiting and that is why the family physician concept is being concertized successfully.

She said that the government had developed the FPC app to successfully implement the family physician concept and dash boards were also developed for the state and district level offices . All the medical officers were given smartphones for the successful implementation of the family physician programme, she asserted.

“Some flaws have been brought to my notice in the implementation of family physicians and steps were taken to rectify them”, she said. Health department principal secretary MT Krishna Babu, Family welfare commissioner J Nivas and APVVP Commissioner Vinod Kumar and Aarogyasri CEO Harindra Prasad were among those who were present.
