Bickering in AP BJP to the fore, complicating matters

Even as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is struggling to gain a foothold in Andhra Pradesh, the differences among three senior leaders have come to fore as one group is exerting pressure on the High Command to take action against ex-MP Y Sujana Chowdary while another group is trying to create problem to Kanna Lakshminarayana. Even BJP national secretary Satya Kumar is also facing problems being created by a group.

It is learnt that a group led by AP BJP president Somu Veerraju ordered the media in-charge not to invite the reporters of a particular newspaper even though the essays and views of BJP national secretary Satyakumar appear in it. The interview of former MP Y Sujana Chowdary appeared in the newspaper. Recently, Somu Veerraju wrote a letter to that media house seeking clarification on a particular news item.

It is learnt that one of the BJP groups complained to high command against ex-MP Sujana Chowdary that he made some controversial comments stating that if the BJP did not declare war against the ruling YSRCP, they could not do anything and he would quit politics. Some BJP leaders pointed out that Sujana Chowdary has not been actively participating in party programmes for the last few months. He is inactive in the party since the BJP high command did not respond to his ultimatum, a BJP leader clarified.

“If the BJP does not adopt a tough stand against the YSRCP and does not fight against the misdeeds of the State government, the leaders will be forced to sit idle and that will be detrimental to the party at large,” Sujana Chowdary told the BJP high command, according to a senior BJP leader.

Interestingly, all the BJP meetings and other programmes are held in the convention centre owned by Sujana Chowdary in Vijayawada but some BJP senior leaders are targeting him, a BJP leader pointed out.

Another group is moving forward targeting BJP national secretary Satyakumar. The BJP leaders even instructed some leaders not to participate in Satyakumar’s programmes. They have also highlighted the failures of Satyakumar before the high command, it is learnt.

Meanwhile, one group is also working against BJP national executive committee member Kanna Lakshminarayana and the group asked two senior BJP leaders to work against Kanna Lakshminarayana. Interestingly, one of them was accused of selling nominated posts.
