Minister for Education and IT, Nara Lokesh, has criticised the YSRCP for holding protests over fee reimbursement arrears, claiming they were responsible for the arrears. The YSRCP members raised an adjournment motion in the Legislative Council regarding issues such as job creation, unemployment dole and pending fee reimbursement payments. However, the Council Chairman rejected the motion for a debate. In response, YSRCP members obstructed the Question Hour.
Minister Lokesh responded by saying that the government was ready for discussions on all matters, including fee reimbursement arrears, job creation, and employment opportunities.
He emphasised that the government was also willing to debate the arrears left behind by the previous administration.
He remarked that it was strange to rename the issue as a ‘Fee Poru’ when it had become a ‘Yuvatha Poru’ without clarity on what the YSRCP was fighting for. He pointed out that people were laughing over the confusion surrounding the YSRCP’s stance.
Lokesh shared the story of a person who was taken to the Hindupur court and cried before the judge, claiming he had no parents and was a victim of injustice. The judge questioned the police as to why they had brought such an innocent person to court, only for the police to reveal that the person was responsible for killing his own parents. Lokesh compared this scenario to the way YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government acted, accusing them of creating the problem of fee reimbursement arrears and then holding protests over it.
He further questioned why the YSRCP was protesting over a fee reimbursement debt of ?4,271 crore that they themselves had created. He also pointed out that the government had increased electricity charges, yet the YSRCP was protesting about it. Lokesh demanded that the YSRCP provide answers for these arrears and made it clear that the government was ready for discussions. He added that there would even be brief discussions on these issues.
Lokesh also suggested that a discussion be held on how many jobs were lost during the YSRCP’s tenure. As the YSRCP members continued their protests, the Chairman of the Legislative Council adjourned the session for a while.
