The State government has presented a significant opportunity for individuals in poverty who struggle to achieve their aspiration of home ownership due to rising costs. The government has issued GORT No.9, which grants an additional benefit of Rs.1,80,000 to beneficiaries across various categories engaged in house construction under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural and Urban) 1.0.
On Wednesday, Collector Lakshmisha addressed a press conference at the Collectorate Video Conference Hall, accompanied by officials from the Housing Department. He encouraged beneficiaries to seize this opportunity to finalise their house construction and fulfil their dream of homeownership. He emphasised that this additional benefit would help make the dream of owning a home a reality for the underprivileged.
Moreover, he stated that an extra subsidy has been approved to support beneficiaries in completing their house construction swiftly, allowing them to proudly move into their new homes. Beneficiaries from SC and BC categories will receive Rs.50,000, while ST beneficiaries will be granted Rs.75,000, and PVTG (Hill Scheduled Tribes) will receive Rs.1 lakh in additional assistance. He noted that there are currently 3,822 houses for SCs, 556 houses for STs, and 4,018 houses for BCs at various stages of construction.
Additionally, he mentioned that the remaining beneficiaries would also receive the extra funds. This amount will be provided by the government on top of the unit value of Rs. 1.80 lakhs and should be utilised to expedite the completion of house construction.
The Collector announced that extensive awareness programmes would commence in village and ward secretariats starting March 15 to inform beneficiaries who have yet to begin their house construction.
He indicated that the construction of houses could be initiated and completed in a phased manner. Engineering Assistants, Ward Amenity Secretaries, and others would visit homes to inform and motivate the beneficiaries. Housing construction personnel, along with village and ward secretariat staff, MPDOs, and municipal commissioners, have been directed to extensively promote this initiative and collaborate with the beneficiaries to expedite the completion of housing projects.
Furthermore, he mentioned that the State government has launched the Swarnandhra @ 2047 vision document, aligning with the aspirations of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. In this context, Collector Lakshmisha stated that the government is committed to fulfilling the goal of providing housing for all impoverished individuals.
NTR District Housing PD R Leelarani, EE G Kapoor, and DEE O Vijayababu were present at the press conference.
