Intermediate Education Commissioner and NTR district electoral roll observer MV Seshagiri Babu has directed the officials concerned to prepare the final voters’ list without any errors after resolving claims of objections in the draft electoral roll.

He convened a meeting of NTR District Collector S Dilli Rao and Joint Collector S Nupur Ajay Kumar regarding the Special Summary Revision-2023 with Assembly constituencies Electoral Officers (EROs), AEROs and political party representatives at the collectorate in Vijayawada on Tuesday. They discussed pending claims, objections, Electoral Population Ratio, Gender Ratio, young voters’ registration and special short amendments of voters.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the officials should concentrate on conducting the short amendment of the special voters programme on November 19, 20 and December 3, 4. Booth-level officers should be available at their respective polling booths and conduct new voters’ registrations and changes in the names, addresses and other details. Also, they should enter the details of Form-6, 7, and 8 applications, he said.

He made it clear that it would not be compulsory to link Aadhar with voter ID card, but voters should produce photo identity details. Keeping in mind the problems that may occur in the future, booth-level officers should use records and registers. The process should be completed within the stipulated period.

He said that EROs and AEROs should conduct meetings with college principals to register students as voters who attain 18 years of age, he said. Create awareness on enrollment of voter registrations. All the EROs and AEROs should prepare the final voters list by January 5, 2023, after resolving the claims of objections, he said.

Collector S Dilli Rao said that as of now, there were 23,46,711 people in the district, and 16,47,571were enrolled as voters. The district administration is conducting awareness programmes on short amendments to special voters’ programmes, he said.

TDP representatives Chennupati Usha Rani, Nagul Meera, YSRCP representative Y Anjaneya Reddy and Borra Kiran of the Congress raised several issues and made suggestions for the success of the programme.

Vijayawada Municipal Corporation Commissioner Swapnil Dinakar Pundkar, DRO K Mohan Kumar, Sub Collector Aditi Singh, RDOs YV Prasanna Lakshmi, A Ravindra Rao and others were present.
