Must read

Health Minister Harish Rao said that the number of C-section deliveries should be reduced in the state and natural births should be promoted. He was speaking at the monthly review meeting with ASHA workers, ANMs and medical officers on Friday.

The minister instructed the ASHA workers and ANMs to participate actively in the second phase of Kanti Velugu programme.

He said, “The role of ASHAs and ANMs at the field level is crucial in ensuring that everyone gets eye tests and provided medicines and goggles. There should be no disruption in the daily medical services provided in the sub-centres and PHCs.”

The minister reviewed the progress achieved in the last month in sub-centres and PHC-wise.

Minister Harish Rao, said, “Prevention is better than cure. Sub-centres and PHCs play a vital role in detecting the disease at its initial stage and protecting people from serious illness. As part of strengthening the primary health sector, he said that 929 doctors have been recruited in the primary health centres.

On one hand, repairs and construction of sub-centres and PHCs are being done, on the other hand, doctors, nurses and other medical staff are being recruited without a single vacancy.”

He said that due to the efforts of Telangana Health Department, MMR was 92 when Telangana was formed, but now it has reduced to 43 and IMR has reduced from 39 to 23. “Let us treat those who come to the hospital as our family members and provide medical services. Don’t let everyone suffer because of one person’s mistake. Serve the poor people with responsibility” He further said, “Measures are being taken by the government by including KCR kits and Amma Vodi vehicles for increasing natural births in government hospitals with much success.

During the conception of Telangana, only 30 per cent of child deliveries took place in government hospitals, now it has increased to 66 per cent. In the month of December, Sangareddy district was at the top in terms of deliveries at government hospitals wherein 86 per cent of the deliveries in the regions were made in government hospitals and it has become an example for other districts.

The minister congratulated the people of Sangareddy district, the officials and staff of the health department.
