NTR District Collector S Dilli Rao has said that tuberculosis (TB) could be prevented by taking nutritional food. TB patients must follow a regimen and have food brimming with nutrients always to recover from the disease, he said.

As part of the PM TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan programme, the Collector distributed nutritional food kits to TB patients at the Collectorate in Vijayawada on Monday. Joint Collector S Nupur Ajay Kumar was present.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that they were trying to make the district TB free by giving nutritious food and supplying medicines to the patients with the help of voluntary organisations as well as the Medical Department. He said that there were around 2,000 TB patients in the district and all of them were being provided treatment.

He further said that everyone had the symptoms of TB, but those who were weak in terms of health could be affected by the bacteria mostly. He said that they had already supplied the food kits to the patients with the support of the Red Cross Society.

Meanwhile, he said the district administration as well as the Medical and Health Department had been striving to contain tuberculosis. He appealed to the public to be part of the mission. DMHO Dr M Suhasini, District TB Control officer J Usha Rani and others attended the programme.
