Today’s football fans like to think they are watching the beautiful game at its peak – the purest, most advanced form of football ever played. The players of our city have certainly made an extremely entertaining division, especially in comparison with those who witnessed Hyderabadi football during their late 80s and 90s. One of the renowned footballers of all time strutting his stuff on Hyderabad’s pitches is Abdul Rabeeh — born in Mallapuram.

For our special weekly column of Hyderabond, we speak to him about his marvelous time as a forward player in the city of Hyderabad. He suggests, “People in my city Mallapuram are mad about football. But when I joined ISL with Hyderabad, it was a bit different. They are a unique team that gives chances to young players.”

Apart from football, the city has been really good to him. Living in Hyderabad feels peaceful for Abdul and since he resides in the financial district: he admires the planning of the newer part of the city every day! The way the roads, apartments, complexes, and services have been planned, they really work as one as he witnesses.

Whenever he has a day off, Abdul likes to go visit all the memorials with his teammates. Moreover, since all of them are foodies but the coach has put them on a strict diet — the time they get to spend on a “cheat” meal is memorable of all times.

“Every weekend is a battle, and we are willing to die on the field for one another. To share that experience with my compatriots and an excellent coach with a huge mentality is a privilege. Off the pitch, our coach adopted us as their own – who just happened to be from another nation. We all spent time together in the city, at restaurants, and at each other’s homes. I have that unity to thank for our on-pitch success,” he adds.
