Future belongs to BRS

Must read

BRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao said the BRS will come back to power without any alliance. The future belongs to the BRS and we will come back on our own, he said.
Warning that both the Congress and the BJP are now ‘eyeing’ Telangana’s resources like vultures, he ridiculed reports that TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu or an NDA coalition might return to power in Telangana.
“Theories like the Congress failed so badly that only Chandrababu can bring good governance and that Telangana should be handed over to the NDA etc are being floated. This shows how desperate they are to push their agenda. It shows what kind of agenda they are setting,” he said.
KCR appealed to the youth to stay vigilant against conspiracies to halt Telangana’s growth. “One mistake will cost us a lifetime,” he said.
He warned that electing eight BJP MPs or eight Congress MPs would serve no purpose. “Only if BRS MPs are sent to Parliament can we fight and secure our rights. We need strength in New Delhi to safeguard Telangana,” he said.
At a meeting held in Erravalli on Saturday to
mark the conclusion of a 180-km, week-long padayatra led by former Ramagundam MLA Korukanti Chander, KCR accused the Congress Government of pushing the state into a severe water crisis.
He expressed anguish over the drying up of Godavari-linked reservoirs built during BRS rule, contrasting the present drought with the abundance of water when the Kaleshwaram Project was functioning.
Referring to a poignant line from a poem by Sadasivudu that depicted the water woes of United Andhra Pradesh, KCR said it was unfortunate that Telangana had returned to a situation where “Godavari flows afar, but your land stays dry.”
He said this state of affairs warranted a public outcry and commended Chander’s efforts to lead a foot march from Ramagundam to Erravalli to highlight the suffering of farmers due to dry fields and empty water tanks.
Recalling that exactly a year ago, Kaleshwaram reservoirs were brimming, KCR asked what had gone so wrong that they were now bone-dry.
“The people brought in a new government hoping for better, and that is their right. But now the consequences are for all to see,” he said. Blaming the current government for its failure to prioritise irrigation and drinking water, KCR said the neglect was evident in every corner of Telangana.
He said governments in desert nations like those in the Gulf spend on desalination plants to meet water needs and cited Madras as another example of water-focused action.
“But in Telangana, this government is reducing the water crisis to just an issue of finances,” he said. “Water for drinking and irrigation should never be seen through the lens of cost. It is a basic necessity.”
KCR recalled how the BRS Government prioritised agriculture, offering free power, input support and MSP-based procurement despite hurdles.
“For 10 years, farmers lived without worries. Now, the Congress Government hesitates to spend on them, which is unacceptable,” he said.
He questioned whether there had ever been a government that offered investment support to farmers instead of collecting land taxes from them, asserting that such pro-farmer policies were seen only during BRS rule.
Lamenting that tanks which held water even during peak summers were now parched, KCR pointed to the drying up of Mission Bhagiratha taps and the disappearing electricity that once lit every field.
“The poor who migrated to towns like Hyderabad were protected by our government. But this government is demolishing their homes using HYDRAA,” he said, adding that the very people who now cry “KCR, come back” had defeated him. “How can I come now? You gave the sword to one man and asked someone else to fight the war,” he said.

He asked why Telangana, after 10 peaceful years, had once again entered a cycle of padayatras, protests and agitations. “Is this our fate? Can’t we live in peace?” he asked, urging people to think clearly. “We need not just padayatras, but soul-searching. Let’s use our heads and plan for a better future.”
