Shadnagar MLA and Chairman of State Public Sector Undertakings Veerlapalli Shankar emphasised the importance of nurturing today’s children as they are the future of the nation and citizens of tomorrow. This sentiment was expressed during the Children’s Day celebrations at the MLA camp office in Shadnagar. The event was held in honour of India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, who had a deep affection for children.
Simultaneously, Jawaharlal Nehru birth anniversary was celebrated at Lakshmi Narasimha Colony, led by local leader Injamuri Gopal. The event witnessed the participation of local MLA Shankar as the chief guest, alongside several prominent local leaders. The programme began with paying tributes to Nehru by offering floral tributes at the statue. Shankar presented rose flowers to the children and distributed books, pens, and sweets as a gesture of goodwill.
In his address, Shankar highlighted Nehru’s significant contributions as a freedom fighter and the first Prime Minister of India, noting that his dedication to the nation remained unforgettable. He conveyed his best wishes to children across the state on the occasion of National Children’s Day. Shankar underscored the commitment of the state government to education reforms, aimed at shaping a bright future for the youth. He mentioned initiatives like the formation of an education commission, as well as teacher transfers, promotions, and new appointments as part of efforts to improve the education sector.
