BJP State general secretary and Coastal Zonal in-charge Vishnuvardhan Reddy has regretted that the AP government has deprived the rights of village sarpanches and forcibly taken the funds.
Addressing a press conference here Monday, Vishuvardhan Reddy said that the village panchayat system was crippled by the Jagan Mohan Reddy government. The funds of the panchayats were taken by the government and diverted to other purposes. The village sarpanches are now unable to carry out any development works in their respective villages, lamented.
“The volunteer system is dominating the village panchayat system in AP. The panchayat system has been crippled in AP. More than 13,000 village sarpanches are affiliated to the YSRCP,” Vishnuvardhan Reddy slammed.
The BJP senior leader alleged that the Jagan Mohan Reddy headed government had diverted Rs 7,650 crore funds of Panchayats to other purposes. “Has the government guts to release ‘White Paper’ on panchayati raj funds diversion. The Central government asked the AP government for an explanation on diverting of village panchayat funds but the AP government has not responded so far,” he claimed.
The government assured of extending incentives to the panchayats which were elected unanimously but after the election the government has not given anything, he stated.
Vishnuvardhan took strong exception for giving over importance to the volunteers by the government. He also objected to the comments of former minister Perni Venkatramaiah on the Nehru Yuva Kendram. The Nehru Yuva Kendra has been functioning for the last 40 years and comparing it with the volunteer system is not proper, the BJP leader stated.
He gave a call to the volunteers to revolt against the government if their services were not regularized. He questioned why the annuity to the Amaravati farmers was stopped.
