Govt to unveil Ambedkar statue on his Jayanthi: Koppula

The BRS government is going to unveil the 125 feet Dr BR Ambedkar statue on Ambedkar Jayanthi, that is, on April 14 along with the Dr BR Ambedkar Secretariat building and the Telangana Martyrs’ Statue.

The Minister of Welfare, Koppula Eshwar, visited the Dr BR Ambedkar statue on Sunday and examined work.

Speaking on the occasion, Koppula said that the work would be completed by March-end. He said that the BRS government is installing the Dr BR Ambedkar statue in the centre of Hyderabad city on an 11.5-acre plot.

The officials explained to the Minister that 90 per cent of the works on the Ambedkar statue were completed. They said that the elevation around the statue, smriti vanam, central library, and foundation works were going on and will be completed by March-end.

The government is making arrangements to establish a photo gallery explaining the greatness of Ambedkar and the biography of Ambedkar below the Ambedkar Statue. The statue has a height of 125 feet and 45.5 feet in width.

The Minister directed officials to speed up works to complete the statue as per the directions of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

The Minister said that the BRS government has been putting the ideology of Ambedkar in action. He said that the unveiling of the statue will take place on April 14.
